According to BART, each trip I make to work saves 28.6 pounds of carbon dioxide, compared to if I drove. That adds up to over seven tons per year. It costs nearly the same as buying gas, but by not paying for a car, parking, maintenance, or insurance, BART saves me more than emissions.
