What’s new? The concert was awesome- Weezer was superb. It was a great night, good show, and Dave Grohl was there.
The bad part is that Kendra got sick with a cold. I’m trying to take good care of her, but colds just suck.
I made a horrible soup. It contained pumpkin, sweet potato, carrot, cabbage, and rosemary. I don’t recommend these things in a freestyle soup- but I figure that it’s got to be healthy.
Also, I’m on level five of Ninja Gaiden. Cool game, lots of swords.
Good news- Kendra just saved a lot of money on wheelchair batteries. Well, the bad news is that she needs new ones.
I took the brand (MK Batteries) and the model and looked for replacement batteries, and they were all $150-$200 each for the same brand and model. Then I went to batterymart.com and looked for the same general type of battery, and found something that was a different brand (Deka) for less than $80.
I called up MK Batteries and asked them what the difference was between their battery and the battery made by Deka. They told me that there is NO difference at all; they are owned by Deka, and just put their own label on the Deka battery and sell it as a wheelchair battery for twice as much.
I had already looked at the data sheets and had almost convinced myself that this was true. Once the MK Battery person told me that, all of my worries disappeared. What a ripoff!
You know, I never really thought I’d be a spelling/grammar person as much as I am, and I never thought that I’d devote so much blog space to it. Also, I really shouldn’t get upset by what people type on the internet. Forums and discussions online are far too informal to get excited about lousy writing.
Still, I can’t help but get irritated every time I see someone on the audio/electronics boards call a transformer a “tranny”, and I couldn’t help but get irritated when I heard a car guy at school call a transmission a “tranny” Come on guys, everyone knows what that’s short for! Trans-sexual, right? Are you with me?
This weekend I really want to see Mirrormask. It has nerd roots, but looks like it will be an amazing visual experience and an interesting story. I’ve really enjoyed Neil Gaiman’s books, and the artwork for this movie looks absolutely nuts.
Wow. Just wow.
After so long on the internet you would think that I would be immune to this stuff already. Unfortunately, I have just read a misspelling so grievous that it made me want to take an auger to my temple to open a hole for my brain to come out and get wiped off with a sponge.
A random person on a forum misspelled “Awfully” as in “awfully big” as “offly”.
Seriously!! It’s like they don’t even know what word they’re trying to type! They don’t even know what word they’re mouthing as they say it in regular speech! There’s a champ at the keyboard.
Edit- I hit “spellcheck” after typing this post, since it would have been too much to leave errors in this kind of post. I accidently let the program change “chimp” to “champ”. I thought it sounded funny, so I left it.
I’m slowly building an entertainment center.
Right now we have Kendra’s TV, with a built-in VCR. I was going to buy a DVD player so we can rent some movies that aren’t on VHS. I am working my way up to a real stereo connected to the TV for movies and music. I was thinking- why not build a home theater PC so I can store and play all my MP3s?
Eventually I might do that, but right now it’s a lot of hassle and kind of expensive. I think that right now our best bet for DVDs and some music will be an X-box. I’m researching them now, looking for a remote control and all that. It would be cool if we could use it for Tivo-like stuff too, but I guess that will have to wait until I build that home theater PC.
Kendra originally wanted a Playstation 2 since it plays all the old playstation games she knows, but when we found Worms and Poker at EB-Games she was ready to go for the Xbox.
My dad sent me this link- http://www.breitbart.com/news/2005/10/06/D8D2IU703.html, but I’m at work and need to go do stuff during lunch. I’m posting this here so I can see it at home. He asked if we have comments. Do you have comments?
I’m trying to put a hit counter on my blog.
