Kendra and I just got back from Urban Ore- that place is awesome!! Kendra didn’t like it too much, since it’s really just a huge junkyard. I had a great time picking through old things (and imagining the possibilities), and while I was looking at lengths of copper pipe, Kendra found an antique plate.

The plate was selling for $0.75, and the pipe I ended up buying was $0.75 per foot. The plate matches a set of really old plates that Kendra’s mother gave her, and it’s worth at least $10 as a collector’s piece. When we went up to pay for the stuff, the guy behind the counter estimated the pipe was about four feet long (it was closer to 5) and forgot to charge us for the plate. For $3.26, we got a really good deal!

I just heard that Harry Truman died in the Mt St Helens eruption. Yes, it’s true that Harry Truman died in that eruption, and is buried under many feet of ash and lava, but it’s not Harry S Truman, 33rd president of the united states.

That’s the kind of blogging you get, now that I have the Discovery Channel again :)

Well, what’s new? I guess I should give an update before I go and post about electronics projects…

Yesterday Kendra and I had an awesome day in San Francisco. Before we left, we had basic cable installed (with high speed internet!). It was a bit of a headache to get the modem set up, but we’re legit now, and the connection seems to be OK. We left here a little after noon and went to the Exploratorium.

The exploratorium was a little “young” for us- not quite what Kendra was expecting. Personally, I just love to see all the science demonstrations. Even if I can already explain in detail how they work (and the average adult has a pretty good idea, even if they don’t know the fancy words), I just like seeing stuff with spinning discs and optical illusions. That stuff is awesome.

After the Exploratorium, we went for a walk along the Bay, and saw the Golden Gate Bridge. Kendra might post photos if she didn’t already. We ended our day in SF watching a funk band on market street and eating some pizza from Blondie’s, then just hanging out in a Starbuck’s. Overall, that was a good saturday.

Today I’m heading to the hardware store, and then we’re both going to the Ashby Flea Market to shop. Look out for posts on new projects coming up!

It finally happened- Kendra’s cat Onyx knocked my laptop off the edge of the couch and broke the screen. The screen isn’t exactly “broken”- it just displays something garbled with lines all over the place. I tried to fix it, but there was no luck.

Fortunately, we had just ordered a wireless adapter for her desktop. We can go on stealing wireless for a while longer, and the broken laptop won’t kill us.

Also, there will be more updates later. We’re going out and doing fun stuff today.
