“Except for ending slavery, fascism, nazism, and communism, war has never solved anything”
I just want everybody to know why I don’t get into arguments when I see that bumper sticker- why I don’t say anything. It’s not that I don’t have anything to say about it, it’s just that it is such an expression of ignorance that there’s really no way to argue with it. If somebody doesn’t accept logic and reason, there is really no way to have a conversation.
Anyway, slavery still exists. See sweatshops, export processing zones, and domestic abuse that still exists to the point that women are slaves within their homes.
Also, fascism, nazism, and communism are ideas. You can’t solve an idea, and you can’t destroy it. The same way you can’t declare war on a noun, you can’t fix a flawed ideology by killing its adherents. There are still nazis, our government is becoming more fascist every day, and communism is a good idea (only) in theory.
I may have blogged about this before. It’s just frustrating- it seems to be a part of the neo-conservative trend among some americans. Got anything to say about it? IM me at designerfool.

Does Google really put ‘recently searched for’ terms in that page? If it does, I say we should start a quiet internet campaign to buy certain things, just to see them up there.
For example, if I searched for my name a few hundred thousand times, would it start showing up? How about other things?
CNN.com – Rapid oral HIV testwins FDA approval – Mar 26, 2004
Ok, so this stuff didn’t have FDA approval back when we were working on our AIDS in Africa project- but I’m glad to see its been proven effective! We sort of ignored the fact that it wasn’t approved when we said we’d be using it. We also ignored the studies that said Neveripene had essentially no effect on the virus, or its transmission from mother to child.
The bad news-
Two weeks ago my group completely forgot to staple one of the sections of our report to the report we handed in. This dropped our grade by 15 points.
The good news-
We showed them the section and pointed out that its absence was the only thing we lost points on. We were given 10 points for it, and now that lab report scored us an A.

PayPal – The PayPal Verification System
Ok, so it’s official- I’ve purchased two bass drums for a total of $74, and I’ve safely lost all the other auctions. No nasty surprises of accidentally won auctions.
I didn’t get the clear bass drum- but that’s not really a big deal. It’ll be OK.
Anyway, I was reading on the Paypal site, and one of the FAQ things they had was “Is it safe?” and their answer was that they use military strength encryption technology.
OK, i’ve read a book or two about encryption (i’m a nerd, remember?) and the big thing about military encryption is that there are many levels of it. NONE of it is considered to be ‘unbreakable’. They are all just rated on their relative level of difficulty to break, and how long it would probably take to break them. The goal in military encryption is to not waste the good stuff- to only use the lowest level for a given channel. Things that have to stay really secure for a long time and are important- they get the really good encryption. If it’s about something that will happen tomorrow, you can send it in code that can be broken in a few days or a week.
Anyway, I want my credit to stay safe for at least the next 50 years.
Ok, GOOD.
I did not win the $65 plastic drum shell. It would have been awesome, but then I would have two drum shells and no hardware.
Now I’ve just got to hope I don’t win the $35 working bass drum.
Geez I suck at Ebay.
Alright, I just won a bass drum on Ebay for $24, including shipping. Here’s the problem-
It doesn’t have any hardware at all. I was kind of sleepy when I bid on it, and I didn’t really mean to win, i guess. It has no lugs, no hoops, no tension rods- it’s just a big wooden tube with holes drilled in it.
Anyway, there is another Ebay auction selling the same type of bass drum for $25 flat-out, with shipping bringing it to $48. It’s got all of the hardware for the drum- all of it.
Here’s the deal… I can buy that $48 dollar drum, and then I’ve got two working bass drums for $72 total. Just steal hardware from one to work on the other…. simple, right?
Ok, so what’s the point of having two bassdrums that don’t even look good, when I’ll have to sell them when I move anyway?
I’ve got a couple of ideas for a new type of drum, and i guess that having two side-by-side (three, because of my old dumb bassdrum) will be a really strong comparison for the studio. Come ON! Three bass drums? That’s hot.
Liberty University – Student Affairs – LW – Code of Conduct – JudicialSys – Reprimands…
Ok, so- I was going to say something witty about that. I’ve got nothing. Those people are weird.
Geez, I haven’t updated in a little while. Or have I? I’ve been busy.
And here’s some of what I’ve been busy with-
